RISE 2019 Conference

David Alexander is the Senior Science Advisor for DHS S&T in the Resilience, Disasters, and Emergency Management domains. He has worked in a senior leadership capacity at both the state and federal levels. In his current role, Dr. Alexander is leading innovative research on Homeland Security preparedness and disaster resilience. He leads the DHS S&T research portfolio for FEMA and its key stakeholders with a focus toward assisting the public and private sectors in utilizing advanced technologies to strengthen our ability to protect the homeland, respond to disasters and develop our economic, community and infrastructure resiliency. Dr. Alexander currently serves as a co-chair to the Subcommittee on Resilience Science and Technology of the Committee on Homeland and National Security of the National Science and Technology Council and on the International Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Flood Management. He is a former member of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee and former advisor to the USGIF Board of Directors. He holds advanced degrees in history, geography, business management, and earth systems science.
