RISE 2019 Conference

Dr. Donovan Finn is an assistant professor in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences and the Sustainability Studies Program at Stony Brook University and director of the undergraduate major in Environmental Design, Policy and Planning. He is also currently a Senior Fellow at the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay (NYC) and a member of the institute’s research advisory committee. Trained as an urban planner, he has worked on issues of sustainable, resilient and equitable development in East St. Louis, IL and in the Chicago and New York City regions. His research on long-term recovery from disasters, planning for coastal resilience, public participation and equitable and sustainable development has been funded by the National Science Foundation, The Natural Hazards Center and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. He is a member of the inaugural two-year cohort of the Early Career Faculty Innovators Program at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, CO, where he will work on a series of projects to advance the integration of cutting-edge climate science into urban planning.
