Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she graduated the University of Puerto Rico: Mayaguez Campus (UPRM) with a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences. During her time at the university she worked as a research assistant for the National Institute of Island Energy and Sustainability (INESI). She helped coordinate the project SolarSPELL-PR with the University of Puerto Rico: Humacao Campus and Arizona State University, taking an interest for educational resilience by helping students and faculty in cases of natural disaster. Furthermore, she helped create and finished the RISE-PR Catalogue for Academic Opportunities. This catalogue was designed to provide a panoramic view of the interdisciplinary graduate programs in areas related to sustainability, environment and energy offered at RISE participating universities. Moreover, she served as an inland liaison between SUNY-Albany and the several communities they came to help and learn from this past January. She also worked on data analysis for a survey created by INESI after hurricane Maria, which aimed to describe how people view energy consumption and how it changed after hurricane Maria hit the island, in order to determine the viability of implementing electric microgrids in communities around the island. Finally, she is working on continuing her graduate studies.
