Anais Roque-Antonetty is a first-year PhD student in Environmental Social Sciences at the School of Human Evolution and Social Change in Arizona State University. Her broad research interests include resilience, disaster recovery, environmental justice, food-energy-water nexus, governance, social networks and community development. Before pursuing higher education, Anais worked with HUD in Puerto Rico developing strategies to assist residents that wanted to obtain a job. In addition, she was a shelter administrator in the aftermath of Hurricane María. As an undergraduate student, she worked on different projects in the areas of environmental justice, policy and community development. One of these projects was the interdisciplinary NSF project: Critical Resilient Interdependent Infrastructure Systems and Processes (CRISP-PR) where she worked with the energy governance team collecting data (i.e. stakeholder identification, interviews and preliminary analysis) to have a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities for a sustainable transition to renewable energy in the island. She obtained her BA in Political Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus and became a climate migrant due to the cascading effects of hurricane María in 2017.
