Transforming University Engagement In Pre- and Post-Disaster Environments: Lessons from Puerto Rico

Keynote Address: Designing Transformational Collaborations for Greater Impact

Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, November 19

Location: Ballroom - Campus Center

As more frequent and intense weather events due to a changing climate continue to challenge us, local, and state governments are increasingly seeking tools, resources, and technical assistance to be more informed and prepared. Universities often play a critical role in the long-term relief and reconstruction efforts required after extreme weather and climate events. However, lessons from recent natural disasters make clear the need to design better ways for inter-university and university-community interactions both pre- and post-disaster. The National Council for Science and the Environment is providing a platform for the development of new models of collaboration for resilience.
