Universities fulfill a critical role in disaster management – educating and training the future workforce, managing critical infrastructure and assets, supplying subject matter experts, conducting research to advance science and technology to shape the future, and supporting local communities in time of crisis. This panel will discuss the role of Universities in pre- and post- disaster management, with the intent of identifying pathways for better integrating Universities with existing disaster preparedness doctrine and planning frameworks and produce actionable recommendations that can be developed through future collaboration.
